I asked makeup and hair artist ANDREA TILLER of Nobarsura for some tips on what kind of eye makeup you can wear if you are lucky enough to wear glasses (I always wished I needed them). Here are her thoughts!
Ladies, when wearing glasses I think of them as an accessory for the face, keep everything else simple in terms of jewelry but when looking at makeup you can have the most fun with it. Most girls who wear glasses feel like there are many restrictions for eye makeup, not at all! You just need the right products.
It’s important to keep the eyebrows defined, eyebrows in my opinion is one of the most important features of the face, they frame your face and open up the eye if done properly. You can keep them looking fabulous by using Benefit’s Brow Zings, available in light, medium and dark ($30 CAD), this brow shaping kit has everything you need, use the pigmented wax to tame the brow hair and to shape the arch and then apply the complementing powder to fill-in and set the brows with the little angle brush it comes with. To make the brows pop and have a beautiful highlight under the brow bone I love using Benefit’s High Brow ($21 CAD). Apply under brow and blend, it’s like a “brow lift in a stick”.
For eyeshadows keep in mind the frame color of your glasses and choose a shadow that will harmonize with it… but not too matchy!
You can also pull off a more smoky look for everyday wear using darker liner and eyeshadows and also experiment with more vibrant colors as long as it’s not clashing with the frame color. I am really liking bright pastel colors for spring and summer check out MAC’s A Rose Romance Collection in Circa Plum (23.50 CAD)… love!
For mascara I would use more of a volumizing opposed to a lengthening… waterproof is always best to stop the smudging and for longer wear, you can easily take it off with a good eye makeup remover like my favorite is from Make Up For Ever Sense Eyes, made for the most sensitive eyes. It doesn’t irritate the eyes and has a cooling sensation when using it… hands down best in the industry.
If your not into the eye makeup you can put the focus on the cheeks and lips using brighter pastel colors.
