I am consistently impressed by the fashion crowd’s ability to take even the most ordinary concepts and turn them into something ultra chic. Christopher Bailey – the mastermind behind Burberry (my brand loyalty can be seen here and here) – did just this with knots, of all things. In fact, my opinion on simple knots was completely changed after the Burberry Prorsum Spring 2010 RTW collection. Images of plain shoelaces and stuffy ties were instantly replaced with those of sexy trench dresses and sky-high stilettos. Since then my love for knotted detailing has only grown. Knotted necklaces, knotted rings, knotted headbands – I want them all! I love the way knots add interest to plain pieces without flashy embellishment, creating accessories that make the perfect little somethin’ somethin’ for work, school, and play ensembles.
