I met this week’s Girl of the Week at the grand opening of H&M at Metropolis at Metrotown. Samantha Kang is currently a student at UBC who will be graduating this fall with her B.Sc. in Biology. When she’s not working part-time as a sales associate, you can find Samantha shopping online for cute dresses and shoes, or dining with friends at local restaurants. Meet Samantha.

Wearing… Forever21 loose cream tee, red skinny trousers, and square hinge bracelet, Urban Behaviour open cardigan, rings from Forever21 and ALDO, vintage clutch and earrings from my mom, and nude pumps I purchased for only $17 on a trip to the States –best purchase ever!

My personal style is… A lot of my style depends on my mood, but I love casual and minimalistic fashion. Well-tailored pieces such as blazers and trousers mixed with loose, flowy tops are my favourite pairings. When shopping, I never splurge on trends, but spend on versatile basics that can be incorporated into an everyday wardrobe. And it helps to keep an eye out for great bargains! A lot of the items I get complimented on are things I have purchased on sale!

Fall essentials… Tall riding boots, chunky oversized sweaters and cardigans, a warm coat that can be worn in transition to the winter season.

Beauty must-haves… A natural blush, MAC Fluidline gel eyeliner, and Maybelline Full ‘N Soft mascara.

Three items in your bag… C.O. Bigelow My Favorite Lip Balm for gloss and moisture, perfume atomizer to freshen up during the day, and unscented hand sanitizer to calm the germaphobe in me.

Guilty pleasures… Dark chocolate, pretty lingerie, celebrity gossip, and way too much television. I might have at least two shows per night to PVR!

Favourite local shops… Boutiques and consignment stores on Main St., LUSH Cosmetics for relaxing baths that smell amazing, Burgoo for delicious comfort food, and The Sandbar on Granville Island for Mussel Mania on weekdays!

Fashion reads… To be honest, I don’t have many favourite fashion magazines, but I love getting inspiration from browsing local and international fashion blogs. As for non-fashion reads, I love the emotion behind PostSecret, and also Color Me Katie for all things happy and vibrant!

I feel most comfortable in… Colourful plaid pajama pants gifted from my boyfriend and shea-infused, thick warm socks.

Favourite accessory… Scarves! From solid colours to playful prints, they are great for layering with any outfit when I don’t feel like wearing jewelry.

One thing every girl should have… A perfect pair of dark denim jeans.

Drink of choice… A hot cup of Orange Pekoe tea –goes great with a book or a mixed CD.
