This week’s Girl of the Week is none other than the founder and editor of the blog I Want I Got, Anita Clarke. From growing up as a self-proclaimed “tom boy”, Anita has become one of the first influential online fashion writers in Toronto. Anita previously wrote for one of Canada’s largest city blogs, BlogTO, and has been mentioned in various publications from FASHION Magazine, The Toronto Star, and The National Post. Meet Anita.
Wearing… Club Monaco vest, Esprit pants, Jeremy Laing sweater, Sanrio Dr Martens, Danier handbag, TOMMY scarf, and Karen Walker sunglasses.
My personal style is… I call it Schizophrenic. I like to wear a lot of different styles and don’t have a set look. However, I gravitate toward things that are minimalist, military inspired, futuristic and colourful.
Autumn essentials… A chunky sweater – Right now my perfect sweater is from Jeremy Laing. A fall jacket – I love my Moncler S trench coat. It’s convertible and can be worn traditionally or like a cape – the perfect mix of function and fashion. Flat black knee high boots – my favourite boots need repair right now, but I’m lusting over a pair of Jil Sander riding boots.
Top 3 favourite songs at the moment… Cut Copy – Pharaohs & Pyramids, Metronomy – The Bay, and Cut Copy – Sands of Time.
One thing every girl should have… Confidence in herself.
Favourite Canadian designer… Jeremy Laing
Beauty must-haves… DiorShow Mascara in Azure Blue, my Dermalogica facial products, perfume – top 3 favourites are Fan di Fendi, D&G L’Amoureaux 6 and Balenciaga Paris, and Aveda Lip Saver.
First memorable fashion purchase… It’s a tie between my Alexander McQueen stiletto heels and my purple YSL clutch. Both pieces were some of the first designer purchases I made and they are from two of my favourite designers and design houses.
Repeat buy… Complex Geometries anything. It dominates my closet and I keep adding to the collection every season.
Go-to outfit… Jeans and a t-shirt for casual, platforms and a knee length shift dress for dressy.
Favourite accessory… My Hermes bracelet.
