Girl of the Week: Bryanna Brown
Adam snapped this lovely photo of Bryanna Brown during Toronto Fashion Week. Bryanna is a fashion stylist at Ford, a blogger for Fashionotes.com and a videographer for her own web series Je Suis TV. She’s always on the lookout for fashionable Torontonians, and loves videotaping their outfits (so be sure to say hi if you see her!). Meet Bryanna.
Wearing… BB Dakota blanket coat from Nasty Gal, Silver sweater from H&M, cowboy booties from Aldo, black AA leggings and a silver pendant from Egypt. My friend Erika dyed my ombre’d tips pink for fashion week.
My personal style is…A conflict of basic/eclectic aesthetics. I never go into full Man Repeller mode, but I wish that I could! I wear a lot of vintage, affordable pieces because I change my mind all the time.
Autumn essentials… Black opaque tights, army jackets and colour-blocked items (I’m still searching for the perfect chartreuse sweater).
Skincare secret… MAC studio finish concealer. It has SPF 35 so I don’t have to worry about my face in the winter months. I’ve been through so many I’m due for a free lipstick soon!
Guilty pleasure… McDonald’s McDoubles. I need to quit them, but when I’m out all day pulling for a photo shoot or just running errands, nothing hits the spot better (plus, they are cheap and delicious).
Favourite local shops… Bicyclette and Chasse Gardee on Queen West. I love them both because they get hard to find pieces that aren’t everywhere and aren’t super expensive. It makes your purchase feel special, and the ladies are always lovely!
Most-enduring piece… My red Balenciaga le dix shoulder bag. I saved up for it 5 years ago one summer working at a greasy spoon in university, and it still inspires compliments despite how beat up it is.
Currently saving up for… These navy lace up platform Topshop booties. They’re just high enough to make my 5’2” stature seem 5’7”, and they’re badass!
If you could be anywhere in the world right now… I would want to be in Barcelona, because it’s the most beautiful place I’ve ever been, and I’m a city dweller by nature. The cobble stone alley ways spray-painted with graffiti and historical artwork never gets old.
Three items in your bag… My flip HD video camera, my favorite vintage sunglasses, and Goody spin pins for easy up do’s (I have more hair that I can handle).
Go-to look… Any of my favourite vintage floral dresses with chunky high heels, a little leather jacket with giant circle sunglasses and cat’s eye liner.
