Girl of the Week: Dakota
Erica met this week’s Girl of the Week when she was perusing the SKOUT Sample Sale last weekend. Dakota is known by her friends as “Ko”, and has always had her hair short, but is constantly changing the colour of it. Since Dakota’s mom is a hairdresser and good friends with the owners of SKOUT, Dakota gets to work at sample sales to gain work experience for school. She loves fashion, art, music, and animals – meet Dakota.
Wearing… Black skinny H&M jeans with a navy blue H&M sweater I cropped myself. The infinity scarf is from American Apparel. My boots were from a western store located in Reno, Nevada. I always have a necklace and my bracelets on.
My personal style… A bit of that new hipster look and a touch of my own twist. I always cut up an old pair of jeans or shirts and make them my own. I always try to feel comfortable in what I wear. I wouldn’t say I am girly but I wear the occasional dress or skirt. Scarves are my favorite kind of accessory that I wear with everything.
Christmas wish list… I really don’t have a Christmas wish list. I’d just like to have a happy and joyful holiday.
Winter essentials… A toque or little hat, scarf for sure, leg warmers, a hoodie to layer and a good pair of boots.
Top 3 favourite songs at the moment…‘We Are Young’ by Fun, ‘Your Protector’ by The Fleet Foxes and ‘It Will Rain’ by Bruno Mars.
Most prized possession… My iPod because I have tons of music on it and I couldn’t live without it.
Repeat buy… Sunglasses. You always need a new pair of sunglasses to go with each outfit.
On the weekends you can find me… Shopping out on West 4th or Main street or with friends and family.
One thing every girl should have…An amazing pair of jeans. I am still on the search for the perfect pair.
Dream vacation…Hawaii because I have never been anywhere tropical.
