This week’s Girl of the Week, Dusty Yurkin (Twitter) , is friends with one of our contributors, Meagan. I met Dusty at the Gap x Style Spy event; her sequin top caught my eye, so I knew I had to feature her. Dusty is a fourth year World Literature major and Publishing minor at SFU who dreams of making it as an editor of layout design in the publishing industry. She loves DIY’s, nail polish, and drinking an assortment of tea from David’s Tea. Meet Dusty.

Wearing… I am wearing a sequined adorned top from Forever 21 (perfect for the holidays), a skirt from H&M, my tights, shoes and watch from Walmart and my purse is from Aldo.

My personal style is… Always about comfort first. I love to dress up in girly dresses and heels when going out, but I also love to run errands or go to class in jeans and a casual t-shirt dressed up with some great accessories.

Most recent purchase(s)… A blue knitted infinity scarf and adorable leather purse with a bow from the Gap at the Gap x Style Spy event. I also recently purchased some amazing scented Christmas candles for my house from Bath & Body Works.

Winter essentials… Definitely an infinity scarf, knee high socks paired with boots, and I’m all about hats, hats, and more hats. I hate being cold so I always make sure I am stylishly bundled up when heading out of the house.

3 items to save from a fire… My Mac laptop, my iPhone and my kitten, Trixie. I am completely dependent on my iPhone and laptop embarrassingly enough and would feel so lost without them and all the information that is stored on them.

On the weekends you can find me… Either having coffee with friends in Fort Langley at a cute little cafe/bookstore called Wendel’s, or cuddled up at home watching movies on Netflix with my boyfriend and kitten.

Dream dinner guests…Taylor Swift. I love her music and think she is extremely talented and I would love to know her story and get to know the person behind the music.

Favourite travel spot… My cabin that I have on the north end of Shuswap Lake where I go every summer with friends and family to get away. My favourite place that I’ve traveled to so far is Uganda, Africa to visit my aunt and uncle.

Skincare secret… Wearing minimal makeup on the weekends to give my skin a bit of break and always, always washing my face before bed, no matter what.

Currently saving up for… The practical side of me knows I should be saving up for a new coffee table and living room furniture (how boring), but what I really want is a gold sequined skirt for the holidays.
