This week’s Girl of the Week, Andrea Schimpl, is a somewhat closeted lover of fashion. She currently works in film as a VFX Coordinator and when she’s not working, she likes composing “really bad songs” on the ukulele and checking out new shops and restaurants. Andrea still aspires to work a summer for Jean Paul Gaultier, her all-time favourite designer (love it!). Meet Andrea.
Wearing… My hat is from All Saints, J Brand jeans, and shirt is Free People. My cardigan is by kersh and the parka I ‘borrowed’ from my sister is Quicksilver. My boots came from a Fossil outlet store in the US and were such a great deal I also bought them in black.
My personal style is… Mostly laidback and pared down – winter is all about jeans, boots, soft knit layered tops and cozy sweaters. For going out, I like to dress it up a little and add heels, vintage and some sparkle into the mix. I’m trying to ‘grow up’ gracefully but with a sense of fun and often look to Vanessa Paradis and Daphne Guinness for inspiration.
Most prized possession right now… My passport – adventure awaits this summer!
One thing every girl should have… A wicked sense of humor! Oh and at least one great pair of boots that go with everything and that you can do anything in; from traveling, to dancing all night to mucking about at the ocean with your friends. I have pairs from Frye and All Saints which fit that bill!
Spring essentials… I really want to try out one of the BB creams and am looking at a couple of great, easy little dresses and some ankle boots from All Saints
Go-to outfit… Anything with boots. You might say I have a bit of a boots obsession.
Skincare secret… Drink loads of water and chamomile tea and try to go for regular facials at Absolute Spa.
Favourite movie… Heathers – it is brilliantly dark, funny and stylish. It makes me want to be a producer just so I can try to option it to ensure it never gets remade. Something so well done the first time around should NEVER be messed with!
If you could be anywhere in the world right now it would be… London, then Morocco and then Spain and after that, Berlin to catch up with friends…is it summer yet?!
Words to live by…“The only real elegance is in the mind; if you’ve got that, the rest really comes from it.” – Diana Vreeland
