Tried & Testing: Clarisonic Mia Skin Cleansing System

I’ve heard about the infamous Clarisonic brush for quite a while. The rotating brush is used for cleansing – the concept is that it cleans your skin better than if you were using your hands. Not only removing every stitch of makeup off your skin, but with cleaner skin, your serums and moisturizers absorb better, allowing them to work harder.

At $139 CAD, the Clarisonic Mia Skin Cleansing System is a pricey investment. After scouring reviews online, I decided to take the plunge, the system consistently ranked high with those who purchased it. My light pink Mia arrived with a small 30ml size cleanser and a charger. Charge up the Clarisonic for 24 hours before first use. Wet skin, apply cleanser either to the brush head or your face (I apply it to my face – currently using KORRES Milk Proteins Foaming Cleanser) and turn on the Clarisonic with a single touch. The device is timed for 1-minute use, move the Clarisonic in circular motions around the face. It’s waterproof, so you can also use it in the shower.

The result? Skin that looked fresh – there was a noticeable difference upon first use. I’ve been using the system for the past few weeks and can say I’ve seen an improvement in texture of my skin. I definitely recommend it! You can pick from 8 colours, and you should replace the brush head $29 CAD, every 3 months. The Clarisonic Mia Skin Cleansing System is available at Sephora.

And the difference between the Mia and Mia 2? The Mia 2 is pricier at $175 CAD, but comes with two speeds and a timer that pings you when it’s time to move the brush. Most reviews I read – people felt the Mia was sufficient with the one-speed and lack of timer. And you’ll also find different versions like one specifically for acne-prone skin.

Here’s to good skin!

  1. The Clairsonic is great. Definitely an investment but I’ve had mine since 2007 and I’m still happy with it. My face just feels cleaner.
