Winter Skin Saving Tips For The Body and Face
It’s that time of year again when winter heaters and cold chills dehydrate and irritate our skin. I’m obsessed with moisturizing and keeping skin soft and supple. To stay smooth, glowy and flake-free, here are two winter skin saving tips I swear by.

For body – Dry skin brushing is a great way to exfoliate and detoxify your skin. Your skin is your largest organ and dry skin brushing in an upward motion towards your heart helps stimulate and increase blood circulation, improve skin texture and prevent premature aging. Follow brushing with a shower to wash off dead skin cells and finish with your favourite moisturizer to keep skin soft. I love the Josie Maran Argan Balm ($50 CAD, Sephora). It makes my skin as smooth as butter. The all-purpose balm also works great for smoothing hair frizzies, moisturizing cuticles and softening rough areas like feet and elbows.
For Face – I swear by the oatmeal mask. Regular application of this mask has really balanced the oils on my face and calmed skin irritations. The best part is it’s an inexpensive, chemical free remedy! Take a handful of natural whole oats (you can grind into a finer powder if you have a Magic Bullet or other handy chopper), mix with a couple drops of warm water to soften the oats and smooth over face. Let stand for about 15 minutes and wash off. If your skin is extra dry, add a drizzle of olive oil. Your skin will be calmed and glowing. Promise.
Can’t wait to try out the oatmeal mask!
