Archie comics may have been replaced with fashion magazines, but us girls can easily recall the excitement of opening up a new Double Digest to girl-next-door, Betty and vivacious, spoiled rich girl Veronica. MAC Cosmetics Senior Artist Caitlin Callahan gives me the low down on MAC’s beyond adorable, new Archie’s Girls collection which hits stores February 7th.
The collection is really going to hit home for a lot of us, “this goes deep, it was a huge part of growing up,” says Caitlin. “It’s the iconic love triangle, Betty is sweet and innocent and Veronica is more edgy.” MAC has created two contrasting colour collections one for each of the girls. “We work shopped both palettes on any and all skin tones, they are really for any skin tone and any age. It’s more about how you’re feeling that day and who you want to be.”
So, would you consider yourself a Betty or a Veronica?
“I’m a Gemini, so I’m definitely both. I always identified with Betty but I wanted to be Veronica. That’s the great thing about makeup though, you can be one girl one day and then wash it off and be the other one the next day and have a different persona. You can be both Betty and Veronica, I think all MAC girls have a bit of both in us.”
The Archie’s Girls Collections includes lipstick, lipglass, pearlglide intense eye liner, mascara, pigment, nail laquer, powder blush, pearlmatte face powder and eye shadow. Both Betty and Veronica get their own shade of each product that best represents them. The charming accessories such as a brush kit, coin purse, compact mirror, makeup bag and tote all have the old school cartoon image of the all-American, freckle-faced Archie and his two girls.
In celebration of the launch, MAC is holding special events across Canada. Make sure to check out their Facebook page for a MAC Archie’s Girl event in your area.
