Tried & Tested: L’Oréal Professionnel Morning After Dust Dry Shampoo

For many years, I had a straight-across fringe. I loved everything about my bangs except for the maintenance. I have very oily skin so even after a fresh shampoo and condition, my bangs would be a greasy mess by the end of the day. Looking for an alternative to daily hair washings, I came across a product called dry shampoo. I’m sure most of you know what dry shampoo is but if not, dry shampoo is a powdery, water-free substance that absorbs excess oil when sprayed onto the scalp. Almost immediately after discovering dry shampoo, it became a part of my daily hair care regime. It allowed me to go days between hair washings and with a few simple sprays, eliminated the oil from my hair and left it smelling fresh. After trying out several different brands, I settled on Batiste as my favourite dry shampoo and have been an avid user for quite sometime now.

Recently; however, I was given the chance to try L’Oréal Professionnel’s Morning After Dust Dry Shampoo. Being very particular about my dry shampoo, I didn’t have high expectations but after using it for the past couple of weeks, I must say, I am very impressed! So impressed in fact that it may replace my beloved Batiste as my all-time favourite. Here’s why:

The Smell…  In my experience, most dry shampoos are highly fragrant but not in a good way. I usually leave the bathroom after spraying into my hair to escape the overpowering scent. The Morning After Dust Dry Shampoo, on the other hand, is the complete opposite. This dry shampoo has the most amazing scent and is the best smelling dry shampoo I have ever tried. The fragrance also lasts up to 96 hours so you’re guaranteed to have fresh smelling hair that remains all day.

It’s Invisible…  If you’ve ever used dry shampoo, you know it can sometimes leave a white, chalky residue. And if not brushed out well enough, can give the hair a greyish hue. With Morning After Dust, this never occurs as the dry shampoo is completely invisible!

It’s Light… One of the features I found so amazing about the Morning After Dust Dry Shampoo is how light and bouncy it makes my hair feel. Dry shampoos usually leave my hair feeling heavy and almost chalky in nature. However, Morning After Dust never weighs my hair down no matter how many times I use it in row.

Ultra-Absorbent… One of the most important qualities of a dry shampoo is how absorbent it is. In the case of Morning After Dust, it is quite effective in removing excess oil. One thing to keep in mind is this is a lighter product so you may need to use more than you normally would to remove all the greasiness. But because Morning After Dust is invisible and doesn’t weigh your hair down, having to use a few extra sprays here and there hasn’t bothered me. To use, shake well and apply onto the root area. Leave for 1-2 minutes before massaging with fingers and shaking out with hands.

Gives Volume… One thing I noticed about the Morning After Dust Dry Shampoo is how effective it is in adding volume and texture to the hair. Even if my hair isn’t oily, I sometimes spray Morning After Dust into my roots after a blow dry to add extra volume to my style.
