Take a sneak peek into the life of Yunus Chkirate, Senior Buyer at The Volts, a members-only high-end and luxury lifestyle online retailer based in Montreal. Think flash sales at up to 70% off (men & women’s fashion) that last just over a week. Being based in Montreal – the team also loves to support Canadian fashion, hosting a Canadian designers week every two months. Follow Yunus in own words and see just what a typical day in the life of a buyer looks like. Be warned, you will fall in love with his dog Ninja. Look at those eyes!
My day starts with the love of my life Ninja, a rescued Jack Russell which I adopted two years ago. He patiently waits while I have my coffee in my art studio to go for his morning walk.
On my way to work, I love to read and listen to music, it starts my morning just right. Here is a poem that I was reading from Jaroslav Seifert while listening to Mumford and Sons.
On arrival to the office, our talented makeup artist Michael Goyette is prepping one of our models for the day for a shoot.
We are shooting one of our upcoming featured brands, here I am adjusting our model Hugo for the shot.
Working with our photographer during the shoot
After the shoot, it’s time for lunch! This is one of my fave spots to have an amazing greek phyllo and greek salad in the Mile End at Melina’s Phyllo bar on Parc Avenue
A snapshot of the ‘reviewing table’. I like to spread all our potential brands and review their collections and lookbooks.
Myself preparing the selection for an upcoming short sale, I’m grinning because Spring is here!
Our buying team loves music, and we always play our fave tracks from 8tracks.
A snapshot of a selection of some of our new spring watches May 28th being featured soon
A snapshot of me and the big cheese Hicham Hassan in the photo studio ( The Volts leader ) deciding on women’s contemporary dresses to feature in our upcoming shoots.
A layout of a new brand coming to The Volts which we decide on the direction for styling.
After my day is done, it’s off to deliver a painting to one of new collectors (I’m also a visual artist). Here it is after being hung in it’s new home.
My day ends with playtime in the park with Ninja. The boy loves to play ball.
