Fall Blushes & How To Pair It With Your Bold Lip Colours
I think fall makeup trends and looks have to be my absolute favourite! Summer is great, but it’s minimal; bronzer, lashes and gloss and you’re set to go. Whereas fall is all about moody colours, a perfect complexion, bold lips, graphic liners and brows. The cheekiest makeup trend for the fall and winter season is flushed, brazen cheeks.
A pop of colour on the apples of your cheeks or a sweep of bright blush up towards your temples add an instant pick-me-up, especially now that all of our summer tans are fading. Along with your highlighter, swipe on any of these shades for a stunning flushed cheeks:
Make Up For Ever HD Blush in Raspberry, $31 CAD, Sephora
Revlon Powder Blush in Wine Not, $9.99 CAD, London Drugs
NYX High Definition Blush in Soft Spoken, $7.99 CAD, London Drugs
Urban Decay Afterglow 8-Hour Powder Blush in Rapture, $31 CAD, Sephora
When you’re selecting a blush shade to compliment your lip colour, it’s all about choosing a blush and lipstick with similar undertones. There is no rule saying you have to be matchy-matchy with your lip and blush colour, that can end up being too overwhelming for a makeup look. If you’re pairing your blush with a bold lip, use a light hand when you’re applying your blush, you don’t want to over power the lip colour. However, if you choose a neutral lip then feel free to play up your blush.
If you’re anything like me, you’ve also been having a love affair with bold lips in berry and wine hues lately. I’ve been pairing these three products together non-stop:
Make Up Forever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Radiant Primer, $43 CAD, Sephora – I find that this product makes my skin just that much more radiant and bright as well as while enhancing my blush colour and highlight, not to mention that my foundation applies over top of it like a dream.
Mineralize Blush in Dainty, $32 CAD, Mac Cosmetics – I love the subtle shimmer and natural looking soft-pink hue.
NYX Butter Lipstick in BLS11 Licorice, $8.99 CAD, London Drugs
